The Town of Lunenburg Water Utility will be flushing 19 hydrants throughout the town to determine fire flows within the distribution system. This work is scheduled to take place starting in the Old Town area (east of the Esso Station) at 9:00 pm on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 followed by flushing in the New Town area (west of the Esso Station) and to be completed before 6:00 am the following morning. If more time is required to complete fire flow testing in the New Town area then additional flushing will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2016 during the same time period previously noted. Discoloured water and reduced water pressure may occur when hydrants are flushed to determine fire flows in the system. Residents and businesses are reminded to close the main water valve prior to flushing to prevent possible damage to equipment or appliances and to run a cold water tap until water is clear after we complete these fire flow test.
The Town of Lunenburg is pleased to announce the signing of a contract with the Alternative Resource Energy Authority (AREA) for management of the Lunenburg Electric Utility. AREA is wholly-owned by the towns of Mahone Bay, Antigonish, and Berwick, the three other electric utilities in Nova Scotia independently owned by municipalities.
The Town of Lunenburg is pleased to announce a new inter-municipal service agreement with it colleagues at the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg for the delivery of building inspection. Effective October 12, 2016 the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg will be providing building inspection services for the Town of Lunenburg.

An announcement was made at Legion Branch #23 in Lunenburg on Friday afternoon when Legion reps from Lunenburg and Mahone Bay Legions received official word that were receiving funding from the provincial dept of Communities, Culture & Heritage. The money will be used to help cover the cost of recent hall renovations at the Lunenburg branch.
