Call for Volunteers - Council Remuneration/Succession
The Town of Lunenburg is seeking volunteers to serve on a Council Succession Development Sub-Committee. Deadline for application: REVISED June 25, 2019.
The Sub-Committee will be made up of five (5) citizen members, two (2) of which will ideally be former members of Council. The Sub-Committee will report to the General Government Committee.
The primary purpose of the Sub-Committee is to conduct an independent review of the current annual remuneration paid to the Town of Lunenburg’s Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Council, and recommend an appropriate remuneration structure for implementation after the October 2020 election.
The Sub-Committee will also examine issues related to the removal of potential barriers for candidates seeking municipal elected offices and strategies for newly elected Council members’ municipal government and governance orientation.
The goal is to have a written report outlining the Sub-Committee’s findings and recommendations submitted by January 2020. The report will be a public document.
