Pride is the promotion of the self-affirmation, dignity, and equality of LGBTQ+ people. While commonly associated with the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York, Canada has its own history and turning points in the struggle for and eventual celebration of LGBT rights. In honour of Treaty Day and the first residents of what is now the Town of Lunenburg, the Town is raising the Mi'kmaq Grand Council Flag on October 1, 2020.
The ceremony is simple this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and will feature Mayor Rachel Bailey and members of our local Labrador family. We are not recommending that people come in person, but if you do, please maintain social distancing.
The ceremony will be posted on the Town's YouTube channel later that afternoon.

On Christmas Eve at 6:00 p.m. local time, we are asking everyone to stand outside on your front steps and simply ring a bell for two minutes. It will create a wave of bells across the world.
Started as a little idea in the north of England, it has spread around the world.
After a tough year with the pandemic, make a musical memory for kids and communities. Let's end 2020 with a bit of magic, hope, and togetherness!
