Lunenburg and District Fire Department

The Lunenburg and District Fire Department has a Chief, Deputy Chief, Assistant Deputy Chief and approximately fifty-five (55) volunteer firefighters. All Fire Department members are volunteers who give generously of their time to train and serve the firefighting needs of the Town of Lunenburg and Fire Districts 1 and 2 in the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg. They operate from the Lunenburg Fire Hall with up-to-date fire fighting equipment. The Lunenburg Fire Department responds not only to fires but also emergency rescue, water rescue, and other emergencies.

Burning Permits Required in the Town of Lunenburg

The Town of Lunenburg requires individuals to obtain Burning Permits before any burning can be authorized pursuant to the Town of Lunenburg Burning Bylaw. Please consider composting instead of burning items such as leaves, branches, etc. These items can also be put out on compost collection day or disposed of at the Town's compost site.

Fireworks Restriction Advisory

On June 27, 2016 a Consumer Fireworks Restriction (Advisory) was issued by the Office of the Fire Marshall.
