Lyme Disease Conference 2019

The LLA is a newly formed non-profit society comprised of residents of the South Shore of Nova Scotia. Our aim is to bring together the many stakeholders (physicians and other health care providers, Lyme researchers, scientists, patients etc.) to seek common ground and learn from each other. 

The conference will consist of two separate sessions:

LYME SOS on Saturday, November 16, 2019 – 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

This session for medical and other health care professionals will feature presentations from physicians, Lyme researchers and patients.

Guest presenters include Dr. Jennifer Cram (Medical Officer of Health, Western Zone, Nova Scotia), Dr. Todd Hatchette (Chief, Division of Microbiology, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Capital District H.A.), Dr. Joanne Langley (CIHR-GSK Chair in Pediatric Vaccinology, Dalhousie University and Infectious Diseases specialist, IWK), Dr. Vett Lloyd (Professor, Mount Allison University working on tick biology, founding member of the Mount Allison Tick and Lyme Disease Network and the Canadian Lyme Consortium), Dr. Ralph Hawkins (Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Calgary, Internal Medicine and Lyme specialist), Dr. Jack Lambert (Infectious Diseases specialist, Lyme Resource Centre at the Mater Hospital, Dublin) and Donna Lugar (Nova Scotia Lyme Support Group).

LYME 101 on Sunday, November 17, 2019 - 9:00 am– 1:00 pm.

The session for the general public will include discussions on the prevention, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease in adults and children.

Presenters will include Dr. John Ross (Senior Academic Physician, Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, Professor of Emergency Medicine, Dalhousie University), Dr. Bryan Rade (Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, President of Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors), Scott Wilson (BSc Pharmacy, RPh, CFMP) and several of the experts mentioned above.
